Trail Etiquette Committee
The purpose of the Trail Etiquette Committee is maintaining the natural and peaceful environment of the trail for trail users. The Committee addresses concerns caused by inconsiderate human behavior like graffiti (see pictures below), unruly dogs, dog poop, littering and speeding bicyclists. The Trail Etiquette Committee will look at a range of behaviors and issues that affect the aesthetic experience of users on the Montclair Railroad Trail.

Volunteers Needed

The Committee addresses concerns caused by inconsiderate human behavior like graffiti (see pictures below), unruly dogs, dog poop, littering and speeding bicyclists. The Trail Etiquette Committee will look at a range of behaviors and issues that affect the aesthetic experience of users on the Montclair Railroad Trail.
Current Priorities
- Monitor, walk the trail and observe the presence of graffiti.
- Report, photograph graffiti if present and fill out graffiti report to the City of Oakland Police and Public Works Department.
- Remove graffiti from the interpretive signs along the trail by using special non-toxic products and materials.
- Provide training to interested volunteers in the use of the materials and the procedures for reporting and removing graffiti.
- To report graffiti along the trail, click here or e-mail to [email protected] . Please specify the location of the graffiti and date and time when you observed it.. When referencing the location, use approximate distances from the entrances and landmarks. This will help to pinpoint the exact location. Example: Graffiti on the park benches 30 feet from the the foot bridge over Snake Road.

- We are seeking volunteers to become Trail Etiquette Committee members, to get involved in determining other priorities and recommendations to address trail etiquette issues.
